Socially Assistive Robot
Socially assistive robots (SARs) are designed to interact with humans in a socially meaningful way, aiming to improve well-being and provide assistance in various contexts, such as education, therapy, and elderly care. Current research emphasizes the development of more engaging and adaptable robots, incorporating advanced technologies like large language models (LLMs) and reinforcement learning algorithms to personalize interactions and improve user engagement. This field is significant due to its potential to address critical societal needs, including providing support for individuals with ADHD, improving mental health assessments in children, and augmenting care for the elderly and those with low vision.
