Soft Skin
Soft skin research focuses on creating artificial skins that mimic the functionalities of human skin, primarily for robotic applications and advanced dermatological diagnostics. Current research emphasizes developing sensorized soft skins using various methods, including 3D printing of multi-material structures, integration of piezoresistive sensors, and novel acoustic or optical sensing techniques, often coupled with machine learning algorithms like convolutional neural networks for data processing and interpretation. These advancements are significant for improving robotic dexterity, enabling safer human-robot interaction, and enhancing non-invasive skin analysis for medical diagnosis.
