Sound Field Synthesis

Sound field synthesis aims to recreate a desired three-dimensional sound environment using an array of loudspeakers, focusing on accurate reproduction of both the spatial distribution and the spectral characteristics of sound. Current research emphasizes improving synthesis accuracy through advanced modeling techniques, such as incorporating acoustic wave physics and utilizing volumetric primitives or spherical convolutional neural networks for efficient and realistic sound field representation. These advancements are driving progress in applications ranging from virtual and augmented reality to high-fidelity audio reproduction in critical listening environments, improving both the objective fidelity and subjective perceptual quality of synthesized sounds.
