Space Manipulator
Space manipulators are robotic arms designed for tasks in the challenging environment of space, primarily focused on on-orbit servicing (OOS) missions like satellite repair and debris removal. Current research emphasizes improving control algorithms, particularly using deep reinforcement learning to handle the complexities of free-floating manipulators and communication delays inherent in space operations, as well as developing robust force-motion control for safe interaction with targets. These advancements are crucial for enabling autonomous or semi-autonomous OOS, extending the lifespan of valuable space assets and improving the sustainability of space exploration.
