Spatial Language
Spatial language research focuses on understanding how humans and machines process and utilize language describing spatial relationships and locations. Current efforts concentrate on developing robust models capable of handling complex, compositional instructions involving multiple objects and relations, often employing energy-based models, neuro-symbolic techniques, and transfer learning with synthetic data to improve generalization and reasoning abilities. This research is crucial for advancing human-robot interaction, improving accessibility for individuals with spatial processing challenges, and creating more sophisticated AI systems capable of understanding and interacting with the physical world through natural language.
