Spherical Harmonic Domain

The spherical harmonic domain (SHD) represents data on the surface of a sphere, enabling efficient analysis of signals originating from or distributed across spherical spaces. Current research focuses on developing faster and more accurate algorithms for SHD processing, including differentiable wavelet transforms and low-rank approximations for source localization, as well as novel neural network architectures like dual-path transformers for sound field translation. These advancements are significantly impacting fields like acoustic signal processing, image processing (e.g., panorama depth estimation), and biomedical applications (e.g., anatomical surface parameterization) by providing improved accuracy, speed, and the ability to handle complex data structures.
