Strategic Behavior

Strategic behavior, the study of how individuals make decisions anticipating the actions of others, is a core area of research across multiple disciplines, aiming to understand and model decision-making in competitive and cooperative settings. Current research focuses on developing and applying machine learning models, including deep neural networks and reinforcement learning algorithms, to analyze human strategic choices in various contexts, from simple games to complex real-world scenarios like participatory budgeting and AI training data creation. These models are used to predict behavior, uncover underlying mechanisms driving strategic decisions, and design algorithms robust to manipulation. This work has significant implications for improving the design of AI systems, understanding human-AI interaction, and developing more effective mechanisms for collective decision-making.
