Streetlight Map
Streetlight mapping involves creating comprehensive datasets of streetlight images, often incorporating GPS coordinates and operational status (on/off), to enable automated monitoring and management. Current research focuses on using computer vision techniques, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs) like U-Net with ResNet backbones, for tasks such as fault detection, energy optimization through intelligent dimming based on real-time traffic and pedestrian detection, and vision-aided robot localization at night using streetlights as landmarks. These advancements offer significant potential for improving urban infrastructure management, enhancing energy efficiency, and advancing smart city technologies.
