Substance Use
Substance use research focuses on understanding and addressing the complex patterns and societal impacts of substance use disorders (SUDs), aiming to improve prevention, treatment, and public health outcomes. Current research employs machine learning models, including GANs and transformer-based architectures like BERT and GPT, to analyze large datasets from social media platforms like Reddit and Twitter, identifying trends in substance use, predicting short-term behavior, and detecting stigmatizing language. These efforts aim to improve the accuracy of SUD prediction, reduce stigma surrounding substance use, and enhance surveillance systems for timely intervention and resource allocation. The ultimate goal is to develop more effective strategies for preventing SUDs and supporting individuals in recovery.
