Surface Water

Surface water research focuses on accurately mapping and monitoring water bodies, crucial for applications ranging from flood prediction and water resource management to aquaculture optimization and environmental cleanup. Current efforts leverage advanced techniques like machine learning (including gradient boosting and deep learning models), high-resolution satellite imagery analysis, and autonomous underwater vehicles equipped with sensors to achieve precise and scalable mapping of surface water features, even at fine spatial scales. These improvements in data acquisition and analysis are leading to more accurate and timely assessments of water quality, flood extent, and the distribution of surface pollutants, informing effective environmental management and disaster response strategies.
