Surgical Training

Surgical training is evolving rapidly, driven by the need for objective skill assessment and efficient, accessible training methods. Current research focuses on leveraging virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) simulations, incorporating haptic feedback devices, and employing machine learning techniques like self-supervised learning and Gaussian Process Regression to analyze trainee performance and provide automated feedback. These advancements aim to improve the quality and consistency of surgical training, ultimately leading to safer and more effective surgical procedures by reducing reliance on limited expert time and subjective evaluations.
