Syntactic Priming

Syntactic priming investigates how recently encountered sentence structures influence subsequent sentence production, aiming to understand the mechanisms underlying this influence. Current research focuses on disentangling the contributions of different factors, such as lexical repetition and more abstract syntactic patterns, often employing computational models like hierarchical Bayesian models and neural language models to analyze large corpora and predict sentence structures. These studies shed light on the cognitive processes involved in language production and contribute to a deeper understanding of how linguistic experience shapes grammatical choices.
