Task Specific Retriever

Task-specific retrievers aim to improve information retrieval by tailoring retrieval models to individual tasks, overcoming limitations of general-purpose models that struggle with diverse search intents. Current research focuses on developing methods to achieve task specialization within a single model, leveraging techniques like instruction-following, prompt engineering, and adaptive learning to enhance performance across multiple tasks without the need for separate training for each.
