Template Protection
Template protection aims to safeguard sensitive biometric data, such as facial features used in recognition systems, while preserving usability. Current research focuses on developing robust techniques that prevent both identity and soft biometric information leakage, employing methods like spherical linear interpolation, fully homomorphic encryption, and randomized multi-layer perceptron hashing to transform and protect these templates. These advancements are crucial for balancing the benefits of facial recognition with stringent privacy requirements, impacting both the security of biometric systems and the ethical considerations surrounding their deployment.
