Texture Map
Texture mapping involves projecting 2D images (texture maps) onto 3D surfaces to create realistic-looking objects in computer graphics. Current research focuses on improving the quality and efficiency of texture generation and mapping, employing techniques like diffusion models, generative adversarial networks (GANs), and physically-based rendering (PBR) to create high-fidelity textures from various inputs such as single images, text descriptions, or multiple viewpoints. These advancements are significant for applications ranging from 3D avatar creation and garment design to virtual and augmented reality, enabling more realistic and detailed virtual environments and objects.
