Thermal Camera

Thermal cameras, which detect infrared radiation to produce images representing temperature variations, are increasingly used in diverse applications. Current research focuses on improving image quality and accuracy, particularly for low-cost devices, through techniques like deep learning-based super-resolution and multimodal fusion with RGB or radar data. These advancements are driving progress in areas such as autonomous driving, agriculture (monitoring plant health), and security (object detection in challenging conditions), highlighting the growing importance of thermal imaging in various scientific and practical domains. Furthermore, the development of new datasets and benchmark tasks is facilitating the development and comparison of advanced algorithms, including convolutional neural networks and attention-based architectures, for tasks like object detection and semantic segmentation.
