Tissue Interaction
Tissue interaction research focuses on understanding and modeling the forces and interactions between surgical instruments and biological tissues, aiming to improve the safety and efficacy of surgical procedures, particularly in robotic surgery. Current research emphasizes developing sophisticated computer vision models, often incorporating deep learning architectures like transformers and graph neural networks, to analyze surgical videos and provide real-time feedback on instrument-tissue interactions. This work is crucial for advancing robotic surgery, enabling more precise and autonomous procedures, and ultimately improving patient outcomes by reducing invasiveness and improving surgical precision.
