Typo Squatting
Typo squatting, the malicious use of domain names that exploit common typing errors, and more generally, the impact of typos on various text processing tasks, are active research areas. Current efforts focus on improving the robustness of language models (like transformers and recurrent neural networks) to typos, employing techniques such as data augmentation, lexical attention mechanisms, and novel encoding methods like CharacterBERT. These advancements aim to enhance the accuracy of spell checkers, search engines, and retrieval-augmented generation systems, ultimately improving user experience and mitigating the security risks associated with typo-squatting attacks.
