Underwater Simulation
Underwater simulation is rapidly advancing to address the high costs and inherent difficulties of real-world underwater robotics research. Current efforts focus on developing highly realistic simulators, incorporating advanced rendering techniques and diverse sensor models, often integrated with AI tools like large language models for intuitive environment control. These simulations enable efficient testing of autonomous navigation algorithms, risk assessment strategies, and computer vision techniques for applications such as marine exploration and environmental monitoring, ultimately accelerating progress in underwater robotics. The open-source nature of many of these platforms fosters collaboration and wider adoption within the scientific community.
