Unit Cell
A unit cell is the smallest repeating structural unit of a material, crucial for understanding and predicting its macroscopic properties. Current research focuses on leveraging machine learning, particularly interpretable models and neural networks (including physics-informed and graph-based architectures), to efficiently design and analyze unit cells for diverse applications, such as phononic materials and batteries. This involves developing algorithms to predict material properties from unit cell structure and inversely designing unit cells with desired characteristics, leading to advancements in materials science and engineering. The ability to efficiently model and design unit cells promises significant improvements in the development of novel materials with tailored properties.
