Upper Limb Prosthesis
Upper limb prostheses aim to restore lost hand and arm function, focusing on improving dexterity, control, and user experience to reduce device abandonment. Current research emphasizes developing more intuitive control systems using advanced machine learning algorithms to interpret biosignals (EMG, MMG) and predict user intent, often incorporating multi-modal sensor data and adaptive impedance control for improved interaction with the environment. These advancements, along with investigations into enhanced haptic feedback and the integration of synthetic reflexes, aim to create more natural and functional prosthetic limbs, significantly impacting the lives of amputees and advancing the field of assistive robotics.
