Vaccine Hesitancy
Vaccine hesitancy, the reluctance or refusal to receive vaccines despite their availability, is a significant public health challenge hindering efforts to control infectious diseases. Current research focuses on identifying and understanding the drivers of hesitancy using diverse data sources like social media (Twitter, Facebook) and web search logs, employing machine learning techniques such as BERT, RoBERTa, and LSTM models, along with topic modeling and sentiment analysis to analyze user-generated content. These studies aim to improve the accuracy of predicting vaccine uptake and to identify key factors influencing hesitancy, including political bias, cultural influences, and the spread of misinformation, ultimately informing the design of more effective public health interventions. The insights gained are crucial for tailoring communication strategies and policies to address specific concerns and increase vaccination rates.
