Varicose Vein
Varicose veins, characterized by enlarged and twisted veins, are a common condition studied using advanced imaging techniques like optical coherence tomography (OCT). Current research focuses on improving the accuracy of automated vein segmentation in OCT and other imaging modalities using deep learning architectures, such as U-Net variations and other convolutional neural networks, often incorporating techniques to address challenges posed by low-salience vessels. These improvements in image analysis are crucial for better diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring of varicose veins, ultimately leading to more effective patient care. Furthermore, similar image analysis techniques are being applied to other vascular structures, such as retinal vessels, for broader applications in disease diagnosis and management.
