Virtual Environment
Virtual environments (VEs) are simulated spaces used for diverse purposes, ranging from testing autonomous vehicles and robots to training AI agents and facilitating remote collaboration. Current research emphasizes the development of realistic and controllable VEs, often employing large language models (LLMs) for interaction and control, Gaussian processes for motion prediction, and various machine learning algorithms for tasks like sound source localization and object recognition. This work is significant because it allows for safe, efficient, and repeatable testing and training in scenarios that would be impractical or dangerous in the real world, with applications spanning numerous fields including robotics, transportation, and human-computer interaction.
