Volumetric Mesh

Volumetric meshes, three-dimensional representations of objects using tetrahedral or other volume-based elements, are crucial for various applications, from simulating physical systems to generating realistic 3D models. Current research focuses on improving mesh generation and manipulation techniques, including developing novel algorithms like adaptive mesh refinement using reinforcement learning and mesh-free skinning methods, as well as leveraging graph convolutional networks and transformers for efficient processing of large meshes. These advancements are driving progress in diverse fields, such as medical imaging (e.g., cardiovascular and brain analysis), computer graphics (e.g., animation and neural rendering), and robotics (e.g., tactile sensing), by enabling more accurate, efficient, and robust simulations and analyses.
