Volumetric Radiance Field

Volumetric radiance fields (VRFs) represent 3D scenes as continuous functions mapping 3D points to color and density, enabling novel view synthesis and 3D reconstruction. Current research focuses on improving efficiency and accuracy, including developing compressed representations like vector quantized radiance fields and employing techniques such as Gaussian splatting for real-time rendering and entropy-constrained compression for reduced memory footprint. These advancements are driving progress in applications ranging from robotics and extended reality to efficient 3D modeling and animation, particularly through the integration of depth information for improved geometric accuracy.
