Chinese Painting
Research on Chinese painting is increasingly leveraging computational methods to analyze, generate, and even physically create these artworks. Current efforts focus on style transfer using deep generative models like GANs and CycleGANs, often incorporating saliency detection to improve the fidelity of generated images and exploring both "Gong-bi" and "Shui-mo" styles. This work aims to both preserve and revitalize this cultural heritage through digitalization and robotic reproduction, offering new avenues for artistic expression and a deeper understanding of traditional techniques. The resulting computational frameworks and algorithms contribute to both the digital humanities and the field of robotic art.
