Chord Estimation
Chord estimation, the task of automatically identifying the chords present in a musical audio recording, is a core problem in music information retrieval (MIR). Current research focuses on improving accuracy through novel model architectures like conformers and transformers, often incorporating joint training strategies that leverage connections between chord estimation and related tasks such as source separation and transcription. These advancements aim to address limitations in existing datasets and the inherent ambiguity in musical harmony, leading to more robust and accurate chord recognition systems with applications in music analysis, education, and the creation of new musical tools.
