Elastic Optical Network
Elastic optical networks (EONs) aim to optimize the efficient and flexible allocation of resources in optical communication systems, dynamically adapting to varying bandwidth demands. Current research focuses on developing advanced algorithms, such as deep reinforcement learning, to manage routing, spectrum allocation, and modulation formats in multicore fiber EONs, improving resource utilization and reducing connection blocking. Furthermore, research explores predictive modeling of network failures to enable timely repairs and minimize service disruptions, often leveraging machine learning techniques. These advancements are crucial for enhancing the scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of future high-capacity optical networks.
