Fruit Localization
Fruit localization, the precise determination of fruit position and orientation within a complex environment like an orchard, is crucial for automating harvesting. Current research heavily emphasizes the development of robust 3D localization techniques, employing sensor fusion (e.g., LiDAR-camera, laser-camera) and advanced computer vision algorithms, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for object detection and instance segmentation, to overcome challenges posed by occlusion and varying lighting. These advancements aim to improve the accuracy and efficiency of robotic harvesting systems, ultimately impacting agricultural productivity and reducing labor costs.
