Hall Effect Thruster
Hall effect thrusters are electric propulsion systems used in spacecraft, offering high efficiency and versatility for space missions. Current research focuses on improving design and performance prediction, employing advanced techniques like deep neural networks to optimize thruster geometry and predict performance characteristics more efficiently than traditional scaling laws. Furthermore, researchers are developing data-driven reduced-order models, such as those based on constrained regression algorithms, to better understand and predict complex plasma behavior within these thrusters, accelerating both scientific understanding and technological advancement. This work promises to enhance the design and operational capabilities of Hall effect thrusters, leading to more efficient and reliable space propulsion.
