Human Tutor
Human tutoring research focuses on developing artificial intelligence systems that effectively replicate the personalized and adaptive learning experience provided by human tutors. Current research emphasizes the use of large language models (LLMs), often augmented with retrieval techniques (RAG) or hierarchical task networks (HTNs), to create conversational tutoring systems that provide tailored feedback and scaffolding, avoiding premature solution revelation. This work aims to improve learning outcomes and accessibility through AI-powered tutoring, with ongoing efforts focused on evaluating the effectiveness of these systems and refining their pedagogical strategies, including the assessment of social-emotional learning aspects.
