Lane Merging
Lane merging, a critical aspect of autonomous driving, focuses on developing safe and efficient algorithms for vehicles to integrate smoothly into existing traffic flow. Current research emphasizes the development of collaborative decision-making frameworks, often employing game theory, model predictive control, and large language models to predict and react to the behavior of other vehicles, while adhering to safety regulations like extended Responsibility-Sensitive Safety (RSS). These advancements aim to reduce merging times, shorten merging distances, and improve overall traffic flow, ultimately enhancing the safety and efficiency of autonomous driving systems.
