Multi Dialect Speech Recognition
Multi-dialect speech recognition (MDSR) aims to build automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems capable of accurately transcribing speech across various dialects of a single language. Current research focuses on developing robust acoustic models, often employing deep neural networks with convolutional and recurrent layers, that can generalize well across dialects, even with limited data for some varieties. A key challenge involves creating balanced and representative training corpora, as performance disparities across dialects highlight the need for more equitable data collection strategies. Improved MDSR systems have significant implications for expanding access to speech technologies and improving the accuracy of language processing in diverse communities.
