Multi Plane Image
Multi-plane images (MPIs) are a 3D scene representation technique that uses parallel image planes at different depths to reconstruct views. Current research focuses on improving MPI's capabilities for novel view synthesis, particularly in complex scenes with diverse camera viewpoints and dynamic objects, often leveraging neural radiance fields (NeRFs) and incorporating techniques like adaptive blending and attention-aware fusion to enhance realism and efficiency. This work is significant for applications such as autonomous driving, virtual reality, and data augmentation for training perception models, offering faster and more efficient 3D scene rendering compared to purely volumetric methods.
