Research on Persian fonts focuses on improving the accuracy and efficiency of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and handwriting recognition systems for the Persian language, addressing challenges posed by its cursive script and diverse typographical features. Current research utilizes Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Vision Transformers, often trained on large, newly-created datasets of both printed and handwritten Persian text, to achieve high accuracy in font recognition and text transcription. These advancements have significant implications for digital archiving, document processing, and accessibility technologies for Persian language materials.
