Photometric Calibration

Photometric calibration aims to correct for variations in image intensity caused by changing lighting conditions, enabling more robust and accurate computer vision applications. Current research focuses on developing online, sequential calibration methods, often employing linear and convex formulations for efficient computation, and adapting these techniques for various sensor types, including infrared cameras. These advancements improve the performance of techniques like visual simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) and structure-from-motion (SfM), leading to more reliable 3D reconstruction and scene understanding in diverse environments.
