Phylogeny Informed
Phylogeny-informed approaches leverage evolutionary relationships (phylogenies) to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of various computational methods. Current research focuses on integrating phylogenetic information into evolutionary algorithms, particularly for accelerating co-evolutionary processes and enabling extreme subsampling in computationally expensive tasks like program synthesis. This allows for significant reductions in computational cost while maintaining or even improving problem-solving performance. These techniques are also being applied to image analysis, enabling the discovery of novel biological traits directly from images without extensive manual labeling, thus advancing biological research.
