Polygon Model

Polygon models are used to represent shapes and objects, primarily in computer vision and graphics, with applications extending to fields like mining. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and efficiency of polygon fitting algorithms, including least squares methods and novel graph convolutional network (GCN) architectures designed to handle complex shapes and disconnected components. These advancements aim to automate tasks such as shape reconstruction from images, stockpile volume estimation, and interactive image segmentation, ultimately reducing manual effort and improving the accuracy of various applications.
