Rumor Verification
Rumor verification research focuses on automatically assessing the veracity of online claims, often within the context of social media conversations. Current efforts leverage large language models and graph neural networks, often employing weakly supervised learning techniques due to the scarcity of fully annotated datasets, to jointly detect the stance of users towards a rumor and determine its truthfulness. This work is crucial for mitigating the spread of misinformation and improving the reliability of online information, with applications ranging from social media monitoring to fact-checking initiatives.
