Scientific Natural Language Inference
Scientific Natural Language Inference (SciNLI) focuses on automatically determining the semantic relationship (e.g., entailment, contradiction, neutral) between pairs of sentences extracted from scientific publications. Current research emphasizes improving model performance, particularly addressing challenges posed by noisy automatically-labeled data and the domain-specific language of science, using techniques like co-training and incorporating external knowledge graphs. These advancements aim to enhance the ability of machines to understand and reason with scientific text, ultimately facilitating tasks such as literature review, knowledge discovery, and automated scientific writing assistance.
