Sensory Ataxia
Sensory ataxia is a neurological condition characterized by impaired coordination and balance due to sensory system dysfunction. Current research focuses on developing objective, automated diagnostic tools using computer vision and machine learning, particularly convolutional neural networks, to analyze gait patterns and postural stability from video recordings, often employing techniques like center of mass analysis. These automated methods aim to improve the accuracy and accessibility of ataxia diagnosis and severity assessment, potentially leading to earlier intervention and more equitable access to care. The development of robust and generalizable models is a key area of ongoing investigation.
