Skin Tone Annotation
Skin tone annotation in computer vision aims to accurately and consistently label the skin tone of individuals in images, addressing biases in algorithms that process human faces and bodies. Current research focuses on improving the reliability and fairness of annotation methods, investigating the subjectivity inherent in human perception of skin tone, and developing algorithms to mitigate biases stemming from inconsistent or skewed annotations. This work is crucial for ensuring fairness and accuracy in applications ranging from dermatological image analysis to facial recognition, promoting the development of more equitable and robust AI systems.
