Social Cognition
Social cognition research investigates how individuals understand and interact within social contexts, focusing on the mental processes involved in perceiving, interpreting, and responding to others' behaviors and mental states. Current research employs various computational models, including deep learning architectures and agent-based simulations, to analyze social interactions in online communities, predict beliefs from nonverbal cues, and evaluate the Theory of Mind capabilities of large language models. This work is significant for advancing our understanding of human social interaction, informing the development of more socially intelligent AI systems, and improving human-AI collaboration.
