Social History
Social history research focuses on extracting social determinants of health (SDOH) from unstructured clinical text, aiming to improve healthcare by identifying and addressing factors influencing patient outcomes. Current research heavily utilizes large language models (LLMs) and natural language inference (NLI) techniques, often employing fine-tuning or prompt-based approaches to achieve high-performance SDOH extraction from electronic health records. This work is significant because it facilitates the identification of disparities and allows for more targeted interventions, ultimately improving healthcare delivery and equity.
