Structural Column
Structural column research focuses on improving the accuracy and efficiency of modeling and assessing these crucial load-bearing components in structures. Current efforts leverage machine learning, particularly neural networks (including Graph Neural Networks and variations like PSOFNN) and advanced computer vision techniques using micro aerial vehicles (MAVs), to predict stress, shear strength, and damage, surpassing the accuracy of traditional methods like finite element analysis and existing design codes. These advancements enable more reliable structural health monitoring, improved design parameters for nonlinear models, and ultimately enhance the safety and longevity of buildings and bridges.
