Student Network
Student networks, a core concept in knowledge distillation, aim to train smaller, more efficient models ("students") by leveraging the knowledge of larger, more complex models ("teachers"). Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and efficiency of this transfer process, exploring techniques like discriminative-generative distillation for privacy preservation, adaptive teaching with shared classifiers for enhanced performance, and attention-based distillation for handling uncertainty. These advancements have significant implications for deploying deep learning models in resource-constrained environments and improving the efficiency of various applications, including image classification, depth estimation, and medical image analysis.
