Unified Knowledge

Unified knowledge research aims to integrate diverse knowledge sources—structured and unstructured, visual and textual—into a single, coherent representation for improved natural language processing (NLP) and related tasks. Current efforts focus on developing unified knowledge interfaces and protocols that allow pre-trained language models to seamlessly access and utilize this integrated knowledge, often employing novel architectures to handle heterogeneous data formats. This work is significant because it promises to enhance the performance and generalizability of NLP systems, particularly in low-resource settings and complex tasks like common-sense reasoning and dialogue generation, leading to more robust and versatile AI applications.
