Abstract

While text-to-motion generation is mainstream, integrating explicit spatial constraints has become a standard solution for precise animation. Existing state-of-the-art models are tailored for professional workflows, effectively processing high-quality, pre-aligned 3D inputs via unified conditioning mechanisms. However, this strictly aligned setting restricts accessibility for general users who rely on unaligned, in-the-wild 2D reference images. This accessible scenario introduces a fundamental conflict: heterogeneous geometric constraints, where user-defined global trajectories clash with local image-derived poses. To resolve this coordinate mismatch, we propose TPMDM, a diffusion model featuring a decoupled parallel control strategy that explicitly isolates and aligns these divergent signals. Furthermore, we introduce IKMo, a holistic framework that synergizes TPMDM with a VLM-powered multi-agent system. By bridging the semantic-geometric gap, IKMo translates user-friendly inputs into explicit motion constraints to drive the diffusion backbone. Experiments on HumanML3D and KIT-ML demonstrate that our method establishes a new state-of-the-art in the task of generating motions under heterogeneous trajectory and keyframe pose constraints.

Image Diffusion Models Are Good 3D Human Motion Generators

Text-to-motion generation typically relies on dataset-specific skeletal representations, with models trained separately for benchmarks with different joint layouts. We investigate whether image diffusion architectures can model 3D human motion through a common image-compatible representation that accommodates heterogeneous skeletal layouts while preserving motion-specific kinematic structure. To this end, we organize root-centered joint trajectories into topology-informed joint--time images and model global root dynamics through a complementary latent stream. A motion autoencoder conditions local-motion decoding on the root latent, while a text-conditioned Scalable Interpolant Transformer (SiT) jointly generates both latent streams, with supervision on decoded 3D joint positions further constraining generation in motion space. In addition to dataset-specific models, we train a single motion autoencoder on HumanML3D and KIT-ML, followed by a single text-conditioned SiT shared across both datasets, preserving their respective skeletal definitions without skeleton retargeting to a common joint layout. Experiments on HumanML3D and KIT-ML show that our dataset-specific models achieve state-of-the-art performance, while shared training yields further gains on both benchmarks, demonstrating the benefits of shared modeling across heterogeneous skeletal layouts.

Kimodo: Scaling Controllable Human Motion Generation

High-quality human motion data is becoming increasingly important for applications in robotics, simulation, and entertainment. Recent generative models offer a potential data source, enabling human motion synthesis through intuitive inputs like text prompts or kinematic constraints on poses. However, the small scale of public mocap datasets has limited the motion quality, control accuracy, and generalization of these models. In this work, we introduce Kimodo, an expressive and controllable kinematic motion diffusion model trained on 700 hours of optical motion capture data. Our model generates high-quality motions while being easily controlled through text and a comprehensive suite of kinematic constraints including full-body keyframes, sparse joint positions/rotations, 2D waypoints, and dense 2D paths. This is enabled through a carefully designed motion representation and two-stage denoiser architecture that decomposes root and body prediction to minimize motion artifacts while allowing for flexible constraint conditioning. Experiments on the large-scale mocap dataset justify key design decisions and analyze how the scaling of dataset size and model size affect performance.

Re2^2MoGen: Open-Vocabulary Motion Generation via LLM Reasoning and Physics-Aware Refinement

Text-to-motion (T2M) generation aims to control the behavior of a target character via textual descriptions. Leveraging text-motion paired datasets, existing T2M models have achieved impressive performance in generating high-quality motions within the distribution of their training data. However, their performance deteriorates notably when the motion descriptions differ significantly from the training texts. To address this issue, we propose Re2^2MoGen, a Reasoning and Refinement open-vocabulary Motion Generation framework that leverages enhanced Large Language Model (LLM) reasoning to generate an initial motion planning and then refine its physical plausibility via reinforcement learning (RL) post-training. Specifically, Re2^2MoGen consists of three stages: We first employ Monte Carlo tree search to enhance the LLM's reasoning ability in generating reasonable keyframes of the motion based on text prompts, specifying only the root and several key joints' positions to ease the reasoning process. Then, we apply a human pose model as a prior to optimize the full-body poses based on the planned keyframes and use the resulting incomplete motion to supervise fine-tuning a pre-trained motion generator via a dynamic temporal matching objective, enabling spatiotemporal completion. Finally, we use post-training with physics-aware reward to refine motion quality to eliminate physical implausibility in LLM-planned motions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our framework can generate semantically consistent and physically plausible motions and achieve state-of-the-art performance in open-vocabulary motion generation.
