Abstract

Bridge Matching (BM) learns a stochastic transport between two data distributions and is therefore a natural tool for data-to-data tasks such as video frame interpolation, image-to-video generation, and video super-resolution. Existing bridge models for video, however, use a reference process that treats the frames of a clip independently, so temporal structure enters only through the network or the choice of the bridge endpoints. We propose Time-Correlated Video Bridge Matching (TCVBM), which places temporal structure into the reference process itself: the frames of a clip are coupled by a linear SDE whose drift is a discrete Laplacian along the time axis, and known frames enter as boundary conditions. The transition and bridge distributions remain Gaussian and available in closed form, so training and sampling are as simple as in standard BM, which is recovered in the limit of zero coupling. A spectral analysis shows that the prior damps high temporal frequencies, injects temporally smooth noise, and relaxes towards a boundary-determined profile, such as the linear interpolation between key frames. In controlled comparisons with frame-independent bridges under identical architectures and training budgets, TCVBM improves most automatic metrics for frame interpolation (Moving MNIST, UCF-101, Vimeo-90K) and image-to-video generation (Moving MNIST, UCF-101), e.g., reducing FVD from 688 to 611 for frame interpolation on UCF-101, and human raters prefer its frame interpolations for temporal consistency in 49%\% of comparisons versus 15%\% for the baseline (p<10−17p<10^{-17}); for super-resolution, it performs on par with BM on automatic metrics.

DuoMatching: Joint-Marginal Distribution Matching for Few-Step Video Generation

Streaming video generation has benefited from distribution matching distillation (DMD), which matches the joint distribution of video frames to a video teacher's approximation of the real video distribution. Although this joint matching mitigates drift during autoregressive rollouts, limitations remain in visual quality and semantic alignment. To address these limitations, we propose DuoMatching, a distribution matching framework that approximates the real video distribution through a unified joint-marginal formulation. On top of existing joint matching formulations, the additional marginal matching objective provides dedicated frame-level supervision from an image generator, transferring complementary visual and semantic priors from it. To apply this frame-level supervision in video generation, we introduce LatentBridge to resolve the latent representation mismatch between the video student and the image teacher. Latent Variation Sampling further distributes such frame-level supervision across distinct temporal segments, reducing redundancy. Experiments demonstrate that DuoMatching improves visual quality, composition, and semantic alignment while largely preserving motion dynamics. Human evaluations show overall preference rates above 80% against all evaluated baselines. The project page is available at https://johnzhan2023.github.io/DuoMatching/.

FC-VFI: Faithful and Consistent Video Frame Interpolation for High-FPS Slow Motion Video Generation

Large pre-trained video diffusion models excel in video frame interpolation but struggle to generate high fidelity frames due to reliance on intrinsic generative priors, limiting detail preservation from start and end frames. Existing methods often depend on motion control for temporal consistency, yet dense optical flow is error-prone, and sparse points lack structural context. In this paper, we propose FC-VFI for faithful and consistent video frame interpolation, supporting 4×4\timesx and 8×8\times interpolation, boosting frame rates from 30 FPS to 120 and 240 FPS at 2560×14402560\times 1440resolution while preserving visual fidelity and motion consistency. We introduce a temporal modeling strategy on the latent sequences to inherit fidelity cues from start and end frames and leverage semantic matching lines for structure-aware motion guidance, improving motion consistency. Furthermore, we propose a temporal difference loss to mitigate temporal inconsistencies. Extensive experiments show FC-VFI achieves high performance and structural integrity across diverse scenarios.

Bridging Event Streams and DiT: Event-Guided Video Frame Interpolation

Latent diffusion models have recently advanced video frame interpolation by synthesizing intermediate frames between input images. However, handling large temporal gaps and complex motion remains challenging, often resulting in motion blur, structural distortions, and temporal inconsistencies. Event cameras provide high-temporal-resolution motion cues that are well suited for bridging these gaps and improving interpolation quality. To exploit this advantage without training an event-assisted model from scratch, we propose an adapter-based framework that incorporates event-derived cues into a pre-trained image-to-video diffusion model with minimal architectural changes. Specifically, our method leverages Image Warped Events (IWEs) and bidirectional sparse optical flow to provide spatially and temporally aligned guidance during generation. By injecting these event-guided structural and motion cues into the diffusion process, our approach reduces interpolation artifacts and improves both reconstruction fidelity and temporal coherence. Experimental results on real and synthetic benchmarks show that our method consistently outperforms existing state-of-the-art approaches.
